Last month I posted a blog about ways to relieve holiday stress and encouraged others to share their ideas. I offered a gift from Calm and Sense for the winning post. Interestingly, two people shared similar insights that they relieve stress by ending the gift giving rat race and instead donate to a charity. Bravo to Cynthia and Michelle for being so compassionate — and practical!! I drew Cynthia’s name and she asked me to make a donation to an organization here in Raleigh that supports women and children, instead of sending her the gift.
One of the most respected, and busy, non-profits here in Raleigh is Interact, a non-profit agency that serves victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The do a fabulous job of providing hotlines and shelter, counseling and advocacy, as well as community education to help break that cycle of violence. While it is difficult to get exact statistics because victims are often reluctant to report the abuse, the US Justic Department estimates that one in four women have been a victim at some time in their lives.
Calm and Sense is pleased to provide support for Interact and we encourage others here in Wake County to check out www.interactofwake.org to learn more about the organization or to request services for yourself or a loved one. Let’s eliminate domestic violence and sexual assault and make our world a safer — and calmer — place for all.
Happy holidays everyone.

Piter: I am glad you find the blog interesting. It is not really a hobby, I have opened a store that focuses on stress relief and relaxation so the blog is intended to start conversations around ideas and issues in our lives that cause ….. or reduce stress. This is the first time I have done blogging so I am still learning!! Thanks for replying.
Good post! I plan to move into this stuff after I’m done with school, as most of it is time consuming. It’s a great post to reference back to. My blog needs more time to gain in popularity anyway.
